Everything is on a Timer

You stopped at a stop light and you have to wait for the light to change before you can go. You’re online with a vendor and your session times out. You have a coupon for that great item you’ve been wanting, but the coupon has expired.

Much of our lives in this modern era are very much controlled by time and yet time is just a construct. In Gregg Braden’s book Fractal Time is a report of research conducted by scientists using sophisticated lasers that would divide time into smaller and smaller increments. At an increment of time that is 10-18 seconds, called an attosecond, the researchers found that at that level time does not exist!

Can you imagine being a classically trained scientist and your research data show that at that level time does not exist?

Everything seems to have a timing of its own, and we very much live our lives by timing. Much of it artificial: alarm clock, time to go to work, lunch, kid’s soccer.

Ancient cultures knew a lot about natural cycles and rhythms of time. That is why you see over 3000 stone circles in England and many edifices around the world like the pyramid of Chichén Itzá in the Mayan land of the Yucatan in Central America that were set to calendrical dates, marking the seasons.

Copan in western Honduras was a major Mayan city for the study of astronomy into the rhythms and cycles of nature and our universe. At one point over 50,000 Mayans lived there and learned how to interpret these natural cycles and rhythms that they would then codify into structures like Chichén Itzá in the Yucatan and other structures as well. Chichén Itzá is well known for marking the solstices and equinoxes and as many as 50,000 people will come to observe this celestial astronomical phenomenon.

Many of the Mayan elders were called time masters. As revealed in their codexes, their ‘underworld calendars’ would date back over 16.4 billion years! I’ve taken travelers on several journeys to the land of the Maya where we would study how the Mayans had constructed these calendrical systems based on the natural rhythms and cycles of our universe so that they would then nest themselves in those natural cycles. These amazing calendars were also tied to levels of consciousness and awareness!

There really is no time other than the construct that we have created to mark time. In fact in my teachings of over many years I tell my students that we live in a oneness that there is no separation at that time is just an idea. In fact if we really do believe that we live in a oneness then that must mean that every moment contains a drop of total consciousness. That means it’s not whether total consciousness is there it’s that it really is there and we are awakening to a higher level of awareness and consciousness in this era of inner transformation.

But because of the artificiality of our modern technologies, we have become inured in the idea of time. It’s easy to get caught up with the many demands that are very much time-oriented in our lives, but it’s even more important to nest yourself in the natural rhythm of your own inner workings and that you can achieve by meditation, spiritual practices and paying attention to the natural cycles of nature.

The fact that so much of these ancient civilizations’ knowledge and wisdom is now being widely acknowledged and embraced is a sign and a teaching that for our own inner well-being we must return to these natural rhythms and cycles and avoid an artificially created life.
