Summer Solstice

The summer solstice, when our sun travels to its northernmost point and the most photons are illuminating the northern part of our planet while in our southern hemisphere that very same day marks the winter solstice when the least amount of protons are illuminating the southern half of our planet.

Today for many the solstices and the equinoxes are simply just interesting items on the calendar that mark the official beginning with our Four Seasons. But there’s so much more to it than that! We have become accustomed to artificial light and artificial timing so much that we’re no longer as aware as we could be of the natural workings and rhythms of nature itself. It is only by availing yourself to these natural cosmic rhythms that you can truly understand its import. And that you can do through your own personal meditations but also by attending the myriad of ceremonies that are available that mark the sacredness of these calendrical timings.

Think for a moment of all the available information there is today by our ancient cultures around the world. There are many stone structures, circles, edifices, pyramids and codexes were memorialized in order to honor the importance of what these celestial events mean. Too many people it just seems an oddity that all of these silent structures that were constructed thousands of years ago remain in witness to how cultures put a tremendous amount of their resources into the construction and ceremony celebrating these events.

The pyramid of Chichén Itzá in the southern Yucatan of Mexico was constructed over 1000 years ago in such a way as to mark the passage of the equinoxes and the solstices as well. During the peak of the spring equinox for example, as many as 50,000 people will come to view a special forms of seven light and six shadows that are created as the sun shines over the nine steps of this magnificent pyramid.

This is precisely why I have taken people on spiritual journeys to the land of the Maya many times since 2005. To help understand the cosmology of an entire culture that sought to nest themselves in the natural rhythms of the cosmos.

Moreover, it’s an indication of how ancient cultures celebrated the intricate synchrony and harmony of movement of nature itself while many of us only mark it on our calendars as an event. Many of us feel that we are in nature but that we are not nature itself when that is exactly the case!

Fortunately, we are living in an age called the age of truth revealed where all of this information is available to us through the Internet and through an expanding network of awakened teachers who deeply understand the importance of our own inner spiritual power!

During this solstice spend some time and find ceremony prayer and meditation to help you further awaken to the natural pulse and rhythm of all nature including our mother earth, for she is a living being like you are.
