The Safety Way

Richard JelusichBlog

I have been an energy medicine teacher/practitioner for over 30 years, with over 500 students and graduates in the U.S. and Canada in my Integrative Chakra Therapy® (ICT) course of subtle energy training for the whole human being.

In 2006, I visited my main teacher, Dr. Hiroshi Motoyama (founder and first president of the California Institute for Human Science, graduate school and research center, where I was one of the first students in 1992), in Japan at the time, and he stressed safety in energy medicine practice in what he called “The Safety Way.”  Dr. Motoyama was also a Shinto priest, a realized yogi, scholar, scientist and author of many book srelated to subtle energy research.

Initially, I thought he was admonishing me not to teach, but I learned that Dr. Motoyama was really stressing The Safety Way as a diligent, coherent and proper method of spiritual healing work.  It is too easy, even today, to misunderstand what subtle energy is.  Because scientifically it can only be measured indirectly, many have initially believed it to be a hoax, wishful thinking, and fringe science.  That could not be further from the truth!

There is much scientific literature, especially that of Dr. Motoyama, that show the reality of the non-dual or higher dimensional states of being.  Organizations like IONS (Institute of Noetic Science), exist for the purpose of understanding the deep interconnectedness of all things, and our multi-dimensional nature.  The research of Dan Benor, M.D., through his publications has shown the efficacy of subtle energy distance healing.  His Council for Healing website (I am a Council Member), is a resource network of individual healers and healing organizations whose mission is to promote understanding of healing and advance access to healing.

The only way to overcome an illusion is to first recognize there is one!  It sounds improbable, but with sufficient insight and training, anyone can open their spiritual eyes to behold a greater level of awareness than only 5-sense perception intellect.

Spiritual energy (often called subtle energy, Chi, prana, Ki or even quantum healing) has to do with life-force energy that is often associated most commonly with Reiki, Healing Touch, Touch for Health, and many other forms of energy medicine/energy psychology work.  ICT, the form that I teach and practice, is based on the Chakra System.

The chakras convert what is called “PSI” or spiritual energy into the subtle energy that an acupuncturist would access: e.g., the solar plexus chakra converts PSI energy into the subtle energy or chi that goes to the spleen and the spleen puts the chi in the blood.  ICT works on the level of the chakras, affecting the whole human being (mental, physical, spiritual, emotional)

In any form of Integrative healing, where subtle energies are invoked, there is always the primary emphasis of safety for the patient, and for the practitioner.  I’ve seen far too many instances where practitioners are not well-versed in how to be conduits of subtle energy, nor do they have adequate clearing and cleansing skills.

“The Safety Way,” as my teacher put it, is to be reverent and respectful of this work, and to truly understand what subtle (often called “spiritual”) energy means.  That is because the practitioner is tapping into energies/realities that are not limited to time or space yet are the very energies that give us a physical existence.

My students learn about The Safety Way on Day 1 of their training in ICT.  They must practice and study with me or my instructors for almost 3 years to become qualified practitioners of ICT.  And almost twice that to become instructors.  Without this paramount respect for one’s spiritual safety, there can be unwanted results.

If you have only a casual awareness of spiritual energy, where do you start?  This is why Bamboo Garden Wellness Center is also an oasis of education as well as offering its many practitioners in the healing arts.  It is time to know more about our true nature!  It is important to know that practitioners must be well-trained in their respective fields, but also in their spiritual awareness and in The Safety Way.

When seeking Integral Practitioners, look for their qualifications and references.  Ask lots of questions.  We are living in an age where your comprehension and awareness oof mind-body-spirit is our goal.

Here is a simple Clearing Technique:

Clearing the Fields

It is always a good idea to clear your biofield of any negativity or clinging energies.  This, you accomplish through the power of your will.  Remember, you are in charge.

Close your eyes.

Imagine a rain of silver-colored droplets descending from a beautiful sky.  The soft, cleansing rain touches you at the crown of your head, and expands into a purifying mist.  The mist drapes over your body and slides off to the ground, carrying with it any and all negativity, thought forms and energies that are ready to release.  The mist magnetically pulls any of these energies out of you, leaving cells, molecules and atoms clear and refreshed.  The mist cleanses the emotional body, the mental body and the light and desire bodies.  All negativity harmlessly slips from you into the Earth, where it is transmuted to neutral energy.

Breathe in and out for a few moments to feel and experience the cleansing action.

When you are ready, open your eyes.

Blessings,
