There is considerable interest in the total solar eclipse across the United States from Oregon to South Carolina on August 21. I’ve talked to people who are traveling to Oregon, Nebraska and other states that are directly in the path of the umbra (the fully shaded inner region cast by the moon’s shadow). The further north and south from the moon’s path, the less the penumbra (partial shadow) you will see.
From my work on the chakras for almost 30 years, I can tell you that the stars and planets are living beings and that the science of astrology grew out of higher awareness of cycles, rhythms and orientations of these celestial bodies. It is not a time to start something new, but rather a time for reflection, re-centering and inner focus.
Last week I had Dr. Beverly Rubik (www.frontiersciences.org ) on my Light News Radio program. The discussion was about how the subtle energy of the eclipse affects our biofield, and that there are Vedic references an eclipse was a negative omen! You know those Focault giant pendulums in the science museums that demonstrate Earth’s rotation. Dr. Rubik said that during an eclipse, such pendulums have been seen to move 14 degrees! Dr. Rubik will be traveling to Oregon with scientific equipment to measure the effects of the eclipse and will have a blog on her website to keep you posted.
Eclipses are a great time to stay in, meditate and do your inner work. It is recommended you fast just before the eclipse in your area, and meditate during the eclipse. Check Tara Davina’s website for more astrological insights into the upcoming eclipse.
